Tying Up Loose Ends
Panel discussion
6.00pm 04 October 2023
What happens at the end of a project? So much energy goes into production, but what happens in its wake? This discussion brings together the artists and curators involved in Back of House to address a complex of issues this question raises. Chaired by Milly Mitchell-Anyon, Curator at the Dowse Art Museum, the panel traverse topics as various as: where, in the end, is “the work”? What role does an exhibition play in the life of an art work? Why does the attribution of authorship matter? And what are the challenges posed by works produced collaboratively?
With Sophia Smolenski, Wendy Bornholdt, Christina Barton and Sophie Thorn.
Milly Mitchell-Anyon is an art historian and curator from Whanganui, Aotearoa.
