Tī Rākau

Participatory sound performance

2.00pm 24 August 2024

Join artist Brook Konia and Adam Art Gallery intern Rosalie Koko for an activation of the gallery with tī rākau (stick games). Bring your own rākau and take part in the fun filling the gallery spaces with the sounds of waiata and rhythmic rākau. Brook and Rosalie will begin with a demonstration and there will be a limited number of rākau pairs available for those who don’t have their own. This is a drop in experience with no registration necessary. It is envisaged as a casual happening, an invitation and an encouragement to embrace a mindset of karawhiua - to give it a go, whether we get it right or wrong - and to have a laugh and be joyful.

This event follows on from the artist talk Tūrangahakoa.

Note:

Bring your own rākau and meet in gallery foyer
